Rick flips his lid on 'The Walking Dead'

Is Rick Grimes out of his mind or is he trying to save the good community of Alexandria? It certainly looked like Rick freaked out on Sunday's "The Walking Dead." Well, make that Rick and Sasha. And Michonne, well, she's the one in charge. Didn't expect her to shut up Rick. But I knew Rick was ready to blow. He seems to be picking up some of the qualities of The Governor and Shane. All of this looks like there should be some confrontation in the season finale. Will Rick get exiled? Will anyone go with him? Can't wait to find out.

Finally, 'The Walking Dead' gets back on its feet

I'm not sure about you, but before Sunday's episode of "The Walking Dead" I was getting antsy. I knew things were building while Rick and crew were in Alexandria, but I wanted more. Maybe the way Season 4 wrapped up and the march through Season 5 spoiled me. I knew conflicts just had to be coming. Well, here they come. And just in the nick of time, too. I won't get into spoilers if you haven't seen it. But things are brewing. (I do want to point out that those residents of Alexandria sure seem like wimps.) And, there were deaths too. Epic ones as well. And maybe "getting back on its feet" my be a disservice. After all, the show has been on such a high level that it's hard to keep that up every week. For me, it looks like it's back. It's been my favorite show, and I can't believe there are just two episodes left in the season. It'll be a long wait until October. But for now, I can't wait until the clif...

Walking Dead review: Finale good, not great

I couldn't wait until "The Walking Dead" wrapped up Season 3. The first half of the season was fantastic, pick up where the second half of Season 2 left off. But the last half of Season 3 had its ups and downs. I'm glad to see Rick survive, along with Daryl, too. Those two characters add spice to the show. However, Andrea, was time to go. She started to grow on me in the last two episodes, but it was hard to feel too much emotion to see her go -- and I'm sure it was supposed to be an emotional ending. I was sorry to see Merle go and not Andrea. Walkers bit the dust, which was cool, and The Governor became unhinged, but there just seemed to be something missing from the episode. Maybe I wanted more from the big showdown between Rick and The Governor.  Maybe I wanted another cliffhanger, like the mid-season finale. Sunday's episode wrapped up too nicely, with Rick leading citizens of Woodbury to a new home in the prison. It was a good contrast to...

Is it worth it to continue with 'Alcatraz' and 'The River'?

I've had some bad luck with television shows in the past and it looks like I could be going down that same path again. I got hooked on ABC's "V" and "Flash Forward" and Fox's "Human Target" not too long ago, only to have the shows end with cliffhangers and no conclusion. I was a fan of TNT's comedy "Men of a Certain Age," only to learn it was canceled early. Same thing with the cop drama "Dark Blue." I got a reprieve with AMC's "The Walking Dead," which might be my favorite right now. But I waded into some new shows the last couple of weeks only to find out they could be canceled. Yes, I'm one of the apparent few that watch "Alcatraz" and "The River." And, you know what? I'm into 'em. It just remains to be seen how much longer I'll have to enjoy them. Maybe I should just bail before I get caught up in each show. What do you think? At least I can fall b...

The Walking Dead premiere great way to start Halloween

Man, I just can't get enough of AMC's "The Walking Dead." I got hooked last season and watched the six episodes of Season 1 at least a couple of times and never tired of it. It quickly has become one of my favorite series to watch, filling a void left by "Battlestar Galactica." Coincidentally, Bear McCreary did the score for BSG and does TWD as well. The man is incredible. Anyway, back to the Dead. It returned to TV on Sunday night and didn't disappoint. Zombies, blood, gore, drama and more. It had it all, including a stunning plot twist that I didn't see coming. Maybe it was because I was too wrapped up in it. I won't spoil it if you didn't see it. And, if you haven't seen the series, check it out.
